Better Apart

Let's just say a lot of things confound me. For example, how unicorns slide on rainbows, or how thoughts about eating Korean noodles stay constantly on my mind. Or fathers calling daughters 'princesses' or mothers comforting and consoling children.

Last week I saw the closeness of a mother with her daughters - how easy they were with each other and how accommodating the mother is, and I thought, this is unreal. If I ever spoke like that to my mother, let's just say it'll not end up very pretty.

Could I have done something to avoid this now gaping chasm?
